PG & Rooms Near Sinhgad College, Vadgaon & Ambegaon
Updated 30 Sep 2026
Sinhgad has a lot of campuses and they are not in one place. The Sinhgad Technical Education Society runs colleges at Vadgaon Budruk and at Ambegaon Budruk and Narhe along Sinhgad Road, with more institutes elsewhere in the city, and the right neighbourhood for a room depends entirely on which one your admission letter names. This is a southwestern Pune market with lower rents than Kothrud or Baner, wide roads, and a single traffic problem. Sinhgad Road is the only real artery, and one bad junction adds thirty minutes to your day.
Who lives here
Sinhgad engineering, pharmacy, management and polytechnic students, along with staff and small-company workers who live in the Dhayari, Narhe and Vadgaon societies.
Campuses and employers. Sinhgad Technical Education Society institutes at Vadgaon Budruk and Ambegaon Budruk/Narhe, other Sinhgad colleges in Kondhwa and elsewhere, and the small IT and manufacturing employers along Sinhgad Road and toward Hingne Khurd.
Where to live, area by area
Rents below are indicative ranges for a private room in a shared flat, before deposit. Confirm the number with the person before you commit to anything.
Beside the Vadgaon campuses. Apartment buildings, small PGs and a market on Sinhgad Road. Walking distance for those in Jadhav Nagar and the lanes immediately behind the college.
₹6,500 – ₹12,000 / month for a private room
Toward the Dhayari chowk, ten to fifteen minutes by bike. Lots of newer apartments and shared flats in societies, generally good value.
₹6,000 – ₹11,000 / month for a private room
The second Sinhgad cluster, further out. Cheaper again, with large societies and a mixed crowd. Ask specifically which institute you are joining as buildings here are clustered around different campuses.
₹5,500 – ₹10,000 / month for a private room
Nanded City is a large gated township, pricier and more organised, with bachelor policies that vary building by building. Manik Baug is older and closer to the city.
₹8,000 – ₹14,000 / month for a private room
How long it actually takes to get places
| Destination | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Sinhgad campus from Vadgaon lanes | 5–15 min walk or ride |
| Ambegaon / Narhe campus from Vadgaon | 15–30 min; depends heavily on Sinhgad Road traffic |
| Swargate metro station (Line 1) | 35–55 min by bus at peak; the road is the bottleneck |
| Pune railway station | 45–70 min |
What it actually costs per month in Sinhgad College
Rent is the number people compare, and it is rarely the number that decides anything. This is the realistic all-in figure for one person sharing a flat in Sinhgad College.
| What you pay | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Room rent (private, shared flat) | ₹6,000 – ₹13,000 |
| Deposit (one-off) | ₹12,000 – ₹26,000 (PGs often 1 month) |
| Maintenance & utilities | ₹1,000 – ₹2,200 |
| Food | included in most PGs; ₹4,500 – ₹7,000 if self-catering |
| Local transport | ₹500 – ₹1,800 |
| Realistic monthly total | ₹11,000 – ₹22,000 |
The deposit is the part that catches people out — Pune commonly asks two months up front and some landlords ask more. Read the security deposit guide before you hand anything over, and get the refund terms written on the receipt.
Flatmate, roommate or PG — which one do you actually want?
The words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing, which matters when you are searching.
- A flatmate shares the flat but has their own room. You split rent and bills, cook or order separately, and keep your own space. This is what most working professionals in Sinhgad College mean when they say flatmate.
- A roommate shares the room itself. Cheapest option by a wide margin — often 40 to 50 percent less than a private room — and common among students and first-jobbers who are saving hard.
- A PG gives you a bed with meals and cleaning handled, plus house rules and often a gate timing. Simpler to start, less freedom, and once you split a flat three ways the cost difference usually disappears.
Bunkd covers all three. You set whether you want your own room or are happy sharing one, and the matching works the same way either direction. If a PG is what you are after, the honest PG versus flatshare comparison is worth five minutes before you sign.
When to look
Engineering and pharmacy admissions run through the state CAP rounds, which means allotments settle in August and September and some seats change hands late. Rooms near the college move slowly compared with Kothrud, because Sinhgad Road has a lot of stock. The tightest time is July, when returning students and early-round joiners overlap. If your seat is still uncertain in July, choose a landlord who takes a one-month deposit and clearly states the refund.
What to check before you pay anything
- Confirm which Sinhgad institute and which campus you are joining before choosing a neighbourhood.
- Ride the route at 9am on a weekday. Sinhgad Road traffic can make a 5 km trip take three times as long.
- Check whether a college bus serves your locality and what it costs. Some routes exist, but confirm for your batch.
- Ask about tanker water in society buildings, particularly in Dhayari and Narhe during summer.
- Ask whether the society permits bachelors. Some Nanded City and Dhayari buildings restrict it.
Finding the person, not just the room
Most flatshares fail on lifestyle, not on rent. Bunkd asks the things that actually decide whether living together works — sleep schedule, cleanliness, social battery, guest policy, food preference and your one real dealbreaker — and matches on those. You swipe through people, match when it is mutual, and chat inside the app before anyone shares a phone number.
If you have not found a flat yet, Squad Mode lets you match with other people searching in Sinhgad College so you can pool budgets and take a 2BHK or 3BHK together. Splitting a bigger flat is almost always cheaper per person than renting a single room alone — the rent split calculator works out a fair division when the rooms are not the same size.
