PG & Rooms Near PCCOE, Nigdi Pradhikaran
Updated 30 Sep 2026
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering is in Sector 26 of Nigdi Pradhikaran, a planned suburb of numbered sectors laid out by the PCNTDA. That layout matters for a renter: the sectors are regular, the roads are wide, and nearly every building is a residential society or a row of flats, so the good rooms are found by sector number rather than by landmark. It is a calmer, more predictable market than Kothrud or Hinjewadi, and cheaper. The catch is that Nigdi has no railway station and the metro extension has not arrived, so getting into Pune central takes real planning.
Who lives here
PCCOE engineering undergraduates and postgraduates, plus students at neighbouring Pradhikaran colleges and a smaller group of working professionals at Chakan-side and Bhosari MIDC employers.
Campuses and employers. Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, other Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust institutions in the area, Pradhikaran schools and colleges, and industrial employers in Bhosari, Chakan and Talawade within a half-hour ride.
Where to live, area by area
Rents below are indicative ranges for a private room in a shared flat, before deposit. Confirm the number with the person before you commit to anything.
The closest belt, a walk of five to twelve minutes to the college gate. This is where the operated PGs cluster, with prices starting around ₹9,500 for a semi-furnished room with food in current listings. Sambhaji Chowk is the usual reference point.
₹8,000 – ₹15,000 / month for a private room
Slightly older housing with a more residential feel. Good for shared flats of three or four, with lower rent per head than the PG belt.
₹7,000 – ₹13,000 / month for a private room
Ten to fifteen minutes by two-wheeler. More new-society flats, more furnished options, and Akurdi railway station for the Lonavala local.
₹7,000 – ₹14,000 / month for a private room
Toward the older town centre and the Bhakti Shakti chowk. Cheaper and busier, useful if you are also travelling to Pimpri or Chinchwad regularly.
₹6,500 – ₹12,000 / month for a private room
How long it actually takes to get places
| Destination | Typical time |
|---|---|
| PCCOE gate from Sector 27 | 5–12 min walk |
| Akurdi railway station (Pune–Lonavala local) | 10–20 min by auto; local train frequency is limited, so check the timetable |
| PCMC metro station (Line 1) | 20–30 min from Pradhikaran by road; the metro extension to Nigdi is not open |
| Pune railway station | 60–80 min by road or a combination of bus and metro |
What it actually costs per month in PCCOE Nigdi
Rent is the number people compare, and it is rarely the number that decides anything. This is the realistic all-in figure for one person sharing a flat in PCCOE Nigdi.
| What you pay | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Room rent (private, shared flat) | ₹7,000 – ₹15,000 |
| Deposit (one-off) | ₹14,000 – ₹30,000 (PGs often 1 month, flats 2) |
| Maintenance & utilities | ₹1,200 – ₹2,500 |
| Food | included in most PGs; ₹5,000 – ₹7,500 if self-catering |
| Local transport | ₹500 – ₹1,500 |
| Realistic monthly total | ₹13,000 – ₹25,000 |
The deposit is the part that catches people out — Pune commonly asks two months up front and some landlords ask more. Read the security deposit guide before you hand anything over, and get the refund terms written on the receipt.
Flatmate, roommate or PG — which one do you actually want?
The words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing, which matters when you are searching.
- A flatmate shares the flat but has their own room. You split rent and bills, cook or order separately, and keep your own space. This is what most working professionals in PCCOE Nigdi mean when they say flatmate.
- A roommate shares the room itself. Cheapest option by a wide margin — often 40 to 50 percent less than a private room — and common among students and first-jobbers who are saving hard.
- A PG gives you a bed with meals and cleaning handled, plus house rules and often a gate timing. Simpler to start, less freedom, and once you split a flat three ways the cost difference usually disappears.
Bunkd covers all three. You set whether you want your own room or are happy sharing one, and the matching works the same way either direction. If a PG is what you are after, the honest PG versus flatshare comparison is worth five minutes before you sign.
When to look
Engineering admissions in Maharashtra run through the centralised CAP rounds after the MHT-CET results. First-year allotments often settle in August or September, well after the general July rush, and college classes can start later than other Pune universities. That leaves a strange window: you may not know you have PCCOE until August, and the best Sector 26 and 27 rooms go to second-, third- and fourth-year students who booked in May and June. First-years therefore often take whatever is left, or the hostel, for the first term, and reshuffle in January.
What to check before you pay anything
- Ask the sector number, not just the landmark. Sector 26 and 27 rooms are far closer than Yamunanagar ones, even when the ad says near PCCOE.
- Check whether your CAP round result will be final before paying a large deposit. Some students change colleges after a later round.
- Ask what the rent includes. Some semi-furnished PG prices exclude electricity and cooking gas.
- For girls, check the exact gate timing and what happens for late lab sessions or project work.
- Confirm parking or bus routes. Sector 26 has limited parking, and on-street bikes are a regular target.
Finding the person, not just the room
Most flatshares fail on lifestyle, not on rent. Bunkd asks the things that actually decide whether living together works — sleep schedule, cleanliness, social battery, guest policy, food preference and your one real dealbreaker — and matches on those. You swipe through people, match when it is mutual, and chat inside the app before anyone shares a phone number.
If you have not found a flat yet, Squad Mode lets you match with other people searching in PCCOE Nigdi so you can pool budgets and take a 2BHK or 3BHK together. Splitting a bigger flat is almost always cheaper per person than renting a single room alone — the rent split calculator works out a fair division when the rooms are not the same size.
