Flatmates & Roommates in Pimple Saudagar, Pune

Updated 30 Sep 2026

Pimple Saudagar is what happens when a neighbourhood is sold on two promises at once: it sits in Pimpri-Chinchwad, so rents are lower than Baner, and it sits right against Wakad, so Hinjewadi feels close. Both are partly true. The area is a grid of large gated societies and a couple of busy retail roads, built almost entirely in the last fifteen years, which means plenty of 2BHK and 3BHK stock that suits three people splitting a flat. What it lacks is a cheap PG street. This is a flat-and-flatmate market, not a bed-in-a-dorm one.

Who lives here

Mostly IT professionals in their mid-twenties to early thirties working in Hinjewadi or Baner, plus couples and small families who set the tone of the societies. Students are few; the campuses are elsewhere.

Who works here. Pimple Saudagar has few big employers of its own. Its pull is location: Hinjewadi and Baner within reach, the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt behind it, and a large retail strip on Kunal Icon Road that employs its own service workforce. Many residents work remotely from the flat, which is why broadband quality matters here more than in most areas.

Where to live, area by area

Rents below are indicative ranges for a private room in a shared flat, before deposit. Confirm the number with the person before you commit to anything.

Kunal Icon Road

The commercial spine, lined with cafes, gyms, clinics and supermarkets. Newest towers and the highest asking rents in Pimple Saudagar, and the road itself jams badly on weekend evenings. Good if you want everything downstairs and do not mind noise until late.

₹9,000 – ₹15,000 / month for a private room

Shivar Chowk and Kokane Chowk side

The stretch toward the Baner–Wakad direction. Slightly older societies, good bus and auto access, and the shortest way out toward Aundh. Landlords here are used to sharers and will often let a third person move into a 3BHK.

₹8,000 – ₹13,500 / month for a private room

Vishal Nagar and Jagtap Dairy

Tighter, older and more residential, with a mix of standalone buildings and mid-size societies. Cheaper than Kunal Icon Road for a similar flat, but check parking and lifts, which are not guaranteed in the older blocks.

₹7,000 – ₹12,000 / month for a private room

Rahatani and Kalewadi edge

The cheaper fringe toward the Pune–Mumbai bypass side. More independent flats and fewer big societies. Rahatani suits people who are happy to ride a two-wheeler and want to keep the rent under ₹10,000.

₹7,000 – ₹11,500 / month for a private room

How long it actually takes to get places

DestinationTypical time
Hinjewadi Phase 1 and 235–60 min by road via Wakad; the Wakad bridge and Hinjewadi chowk decide the day, so treat 40 minutes as a good morning
Baner and Aundh20–35 min off-peak; the Aundh–Ravet road and Baner road get slow after 9am
Pimpri and Chinchwad20–35 min; the bypass and Sangvi side back up at shift change
Shivajinagar and Pune station40–70 min by road; Line 1 is reachable from Pimpri or Dapodi but not walkable from Pimple Saudagar

What it actually costs per month in Pimple Saudagar

Rent is the number people compare, and it is rarely the number that decides anything. This is the realistic all-in figure for one person sharing a flat in Pimple Saudagar.

What you payTypical range
Room rent (private, shared flat)₹7,000 – ₹15,000
Deposit (one-off)₹14,000 – ₹30,000
Maintenance & utilities₹1,500 – ₹3,000
Food₹5,000 – ₹7,500
Local transport₹1,000 – ₹2,500 (fuel; Hinjewadi run)
Realistic monthly total₹15,000 – ₹28,000

The deposit is the part that catches people out — Pune commonly asks two months up front and some landlords ask more. Read the security deposit guide before you hand anything over, and get the refund terms written on the receipt.

Flatmate, roommate or PG — which one do you actually want?

The words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing, which matters when you are searching.

Bunkd covers all three. You set whether you want your own room or are happy sharing one, and the matching works the same way either direction. If a PG is what you are after, the honest PG versus flatshare comparison is worth five minutes before you sign.

When to look

Pimple Saudagar fills on the same calendar as Hinjewadi and Wakad. January and June-July are the busy months, when new joiners land and project changes happen, and good rooms in the Kunal Icon Road societies can go within days. The quiet patch is November-December, when the flat you want may sit unlisted because the tenant has not yet decided to leave. Because most stock is 2BHK and 3BHK, rooms often open when one flatmate leaves rather than when a whole flat comes up.

What to check before you pay anything

Finding the person, not just the room

Most flatshares fail on lifestyle, not on rent. Bunkd asks the things that actually decide whether living together works — sleep schedule, cleanliness, social battery, guest policy, food preference and your one real dealbreaker — and matches on those. You swipe through people, match when it is mutual, and chat inside the app before anyone shares a phone number.

If you have not found a flat yet, Squad Mode lets you match with other people searching in Pimple Saudagar so you can pool budgets and take a 2BHK or 3BHK together. Splitting a bigger flat is almost always cheaper per person than renting a single room alone — the rent split calculator works out a fair division when the rooms are not the same size.

Common questions

How much does a room cost in Pimple Saudagar?

A private room in a shared 2BHK or 3BHK generally runs ₹7,000 to ₹15,000 a month, with Kunal Icon Road societies at the top and Rahatani or Vishal Nagar at the bottom. A shared room in a flat is cheaper, but most listings here are for full private rooms, since PG buildings are few.

Is there a PG near Pimple Saudagar?

Some, but fewer than in Pimpri or Nigdi. Most searches for a PG here end up as a room in a shared flat, which usually costs about the same as a good PG bed and gives you a kitchen and more privacy. Meals are not included, so add ₹5,000 or more for food.

Is Pimple Saudagar safe for women living alone or in a group?

The gated societies have guards and CCTV, and the main roads are busy until late. That is reassuring, but security varies by society, so visit at night, meet the flatmates, and ask other residents about the guard system before you commit.

Is Pimple Saudagar better than Wakad for Hinjewadi?

Wakad is closer and the commute is shorter, while Pimple Saudagar usually gives you a newer flat for the same rent and a less crowded feel. If Hinjewadi is your daily destination and you have no vehicle, Wakad wins. If you want a better building, Pimple Saudagar is worth the extra ten minutes.

Does Bunkd charge for finding a flatmate here?

No. Bunkd is free to use and there is no brokerage. You swipe, match, chat, and can use Squad Mode to team up with other seekers before taking a 3BHK together.
