Flatmates & Roommates in Moshi, Pune

Updated 30 Sep 2026

Moshi is where Pimpri-Chinchwad's rents run out. It is the northern fringe on the Pune–Nashik highway, and the price of a room is lower than anywhere else in this batch of areas by a clear margin. The trade is distance. You are a good way from the metro, from the older PCMC centres and from Hinjewadi, and life here depends on your own vehicle or the Nashik highway buses. The area is half planned sector housing and half village, and it is growing fast, with new towers rising beside farmland. It suits people who work close by and want to save.

Who lives here

Workers in the Bhosari MIDC and Chakan belts, first-time earners on tight budgets, and families buying into the newer sector housing.

Who works here. Bhosari MIDC, one of the state's larger industrial estates, sits close by, and Chakan's automobile cluster, home to plants of Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Bajaj Auto, is a longer ride up the highway. The Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Moshi brings events and temporary work. Alandi, a pilgrimage town, is a short drive further.

Where to live, area by area

Rents below are indicative ranges for a private room in a shared flat, before deposit. Confirm the number with the person before you commit to anything.

Moshi Pradhikaran (Sectors 4, 6, 12)

The planned housing sectors, with newer apartment buildings, wide roads and the exhibition centre nearby. Most modern flats and most flatmate listings in Moshi are here.

₹5,500 – ₹9,500 / month for a private room

Moshi Gaothan

The old village core on the highway side. Older houses, cheap rooms and shops within a walk. Basic and often crowded, though good for a low budget.

₹4,500 – ₹7,500 / month for a private room

Borhadewadi

A fast-growing pocket with new residential buildings between the highway and the planned sectors. Slightly higher rents than the gaothan because of newer stock, and easy access to the highway.

₹5,000 – ₹9,000 / month for a private room

Charholi Budruk and Alandi Road

The stretch toward Alandi, with a mixture of new societies and rural surroundings. Peaceful, but far from services and heavily dependent on your own vehicle.

₹4,500 – ₹8,500 / month for a private room

How long it actually takes to get places

DestinationTypical time
Bhosari MIDC10–25 min; the highway chowks jam at shift change
Chakan MIDC30–60 min; the Chakan road is slow and truck-heavy
Pimpri30–50 min by road; the Nashik highway stretch is the bottleneck
Pune Shivajinagar60–100 min by road at peak; the nearest Line 1 stations are on the Bhosari side and need a vehicle to reach

What it actually costs per month in Moshi

Rent is the number people compare, and it is rarely the number that decides anything. This is the realistic all-in figure for one person sharing a flat in Moshi.

What you payTypical range
Room rent (private, shared flat)₹4,500 – ₹9,500
Deposit (one-off)₹9,000 – ₹19,000
Maintenance & utilities₹1,000 – ₹2,000
Food₹4,500 – ₹6,000
Local transport₹1,000 – ₹2,500 (mostly fuel)
Realistic monthly total₹10,000 – ₹19,000

The deposit is the part that catches people out — Pune commonly asks two months up front and some landlords ask more. Read the security deposit guide before you hand anything over, and get the refund terms written on the receipt.

Flatmate, roommate or PG — which one do you actually want?

The words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing, which matters when you are searching.

Bunkd covers all three. You set whether you want your own room or are happy sharing one, and the matching works the same way either direction. If a PG is what you are after, the honest PG versus flatshare comparison is worth five minutes before you sign.

When to look

Moshi follows the plant hiring cycle more than the campus one. The busiest months are April and October, when contract and apprentice batches join, and July, when engineering diploma holders begin. Because landlords are used to shift workers and new arrivals, getting a room quickly is rarely difficult. The harder task is finding one that suits your shift hours and is not five kilometres from any shop or bus stop.

What to check before you pay anything

Finding the person, not just the room

Most flatshares fail on lifestyle, not on rent. Bunkd asks the things that actually decide whether living together works — sleep schedule, cleanliness, social battery, guest policy, food preference and your one real dealbreaker — and matches on those. You swipe through people, match when it is mutual, and chat inside the app before anyone shares a phone number.

If you have not found a flat yet, Squad Mode lets you match with other people searching in Moshi so you can pool budgets and take a 2BHK or 3BHK together. Splitting a bigger flat is almost always cheaper per person than renting a single room alone — the rent split calculator works out a fair division when the rooms are not the same size.

Common questions

How much does a room cost in Moshi?

A private room in a shared flat runs about ₹4,500 to ₹9,500 a month, which is the cheapest in this part of Pune. PG beds are about ₹3,500 to ₹6,500 depending on meals. Most of the stock is in the planned sectors and around Borhadewadi.

Is Moshi good for working in Chakan or Bhosari?

Bhosari is close and the commute is reasonable. Chakan is farther and the road is truck-heavy, so the daily trip is longer than the map suggests. Consider whether your shift times avoid peak traffic.

Is there a metro near Moshi?

Not at Moshi. Line 1 has stations toward Bhosari, which is the nearest, but you will need a vehicle or a bus to reach it. Do not choose Moshi for its metro access.

Is Moshi a good area for students?

There is no large campus inside Moshi, so it mostly suits people who work nearby rather than students. If you study at Pimpri or Nigdi, a base closer to the campus saves time and money.

What does Bunkd cost in Moshi?

Nothing. No fee, no brokerage, verified phone badges, and Squad Mode so you can team up with others and rent a flat in one of the newer societies at a lower rent per person.
