At Bunkd ("we," "our," or "us"), we operate on a principle of "Data Minimalism." We only collect what is strictly necessary to help you match with the perfect flatmate or find a spare room.

            Note on Entity Status: Bunkd is currently an independent community project designed to help students and professionals find housing through a modern, swipe-based interface. We are not a registered real estate agency. This service is provided "as-is" for the benefit of the community.

1. Information We Collect

To power our matching engine, we collect the following categories of data:

A. Information You Provide

Account Data: When you sign up via Google or Phone, we collect your name, email address, profile photo, and verified phone number.
Profile Information: Age, gender, role (Host/Hunter), budget, rent, lifestyle tags (e.g., smoking, diet, sleep schedule), and bio.
User Content: Photos of yourself or your room/apartment that you upload to our secure cloud storage.

B. Information Collected Automatically

Geolocation Data: We collect your latitude and longitude to calculate the distance between you and potential matches. This is stored securely as a Geohash.
Swipe Data: Information about your interactions, including Right Swipes (Likes), Left Swipes (Passes), Matches, and Chat history.

2. How We Use Your Information

The Matching Engine: To calculate "Vibe Match" compatibility scores and display relevant profiles within your search radius.
Secure Communication: To facilitate encrypted, in-app messaging between mutual matches without revealing your personal phone number.
Trust & Safety: To verify accounts via SMS OTP and ban fraudulent or abusive users.

3. Data Retention & The "Clean Sweep" Deletion

We respect your right to control your digital footprint. Unlike other platforms that "soft delete" data, we enforce a strict "Clean Sweep" Deletion Policy.

When you delete your account via the Settings Dashboard:

Your user profile is immediately and permanently wiped from our Firestore database.
Your photos are physically deleted from our Firebase Storage buckets.
All your swipes, matches, and chat records are purged. You instantly disappear from the app.

4. Security Measures

Encryption: All data is transmitted via HTTPS/SSL and encrypted at rest within Google Cloud infrastructure.
Access Control: Strict database rules ensure that no user can read or write data belonging to another user, except for mutually matched public profiles.
